Aspen Dining. There are so many fabulous restaurants in Aspen. Don't even think of going anywhere without a reservation. Exotic ingredients and ethnic foods are definitely trendy in Aspen. Many restaurants in Aspen have a “bar” menu or "small plates" entrees. These menus are the locals’ secrets to eating well, and they aren’t your usual hot wings and nachos. They’re culinary delights but in smaller portions than regular entrees, running $8–$15, such as roast sirloin steak with gourmet mashed potatoes at Cache Cache, spinach-and-ricotta-cheese ravioli in a light smoked-ricotta-and-sage sauce at L’Hostaria or the Sambal shrimp quesadilla at Elevation. Aspen Shopping. A shoppers paradise. To truly appreciate the Aspen experience, you have to shop. Note that we say shop (meaning browse) rather than buy, because if you're not careful, you just might blow next month's mortgage payment on a "must have" paining. Quality is exquisite, shop staffs are friendly, and your neighbor probably doesn't already have one. Having said all that, I'd suggest you lock up your credit cards, put on some good walking shoes, and spend a few hours exploring the galleries and shops of Aspen. More shopping info >>
